A lot of people new to domaining may only see domaining as one dimensional: You go to Godaddy and buy a name if yours is available. This is not the case, there are websites that offer a varying degree of services on different types of names you can buy. For example, you can find expiring domains, bid on high dollar domains, participate in small reseller forum auctions, and everywhere in between for new, used, deleted, and expiring domain names.
