How to Remove DomainsbyProxy From Godaddy

As you’ve noticed by now, whois privacy at Godaddy is expensive. The renewal fee tacks on another $8.99 every year. Seeing this large cost, you’ll probably want to learn how to remove DomainsByProxy (whois privacy) from your Godaddy domain. This can be a little confusing for anyone. I’m a seasoned domainer and have had domains spanning 7 different registrars, but I still needed help in figuring this one out. What got me in this situation was some free renewals I had received for batches of over 5 domains registered at one time. Now renewal time at Godaddy has come and I couldn’t figure out how to remove the DomainsByProxy.

Here is how you do it:

1. Search your email for the original domainsbyproxy email you got. Your email probably has a search feature within your email so you can find this easily.

2. Once you have located the email, copy your domainsbyproxy customer login number. Copy (You will paste it in a second.)

3. Next click on the link provided in the email or visit their homepage. If you remember your password, enter it. If you’re like me and have forgot your password, click password reset.

4. Then, you will be prompted to enter your customer number again. Paste it. Finalize this by entering the captcha code.

5. You should receive an email within one minute from domainsbyproxy. It will be titled “Information to Reset Your Password”. All you need to do is click on the link within the email.

6. You will then be able to create a newpassword. Submit this.

7. Now you can login to your account by pasting your original customer login # and your new reset password.

8. Once inside your account, click on all the domains you want to remove whois privacy from.

9. Last select the option that yes, you would like to remove the domainsbyproxy whois protection.

10. That’s it!

Don’t pay for any add-ons you don’t have to. If you no longer need or want your domain privacy, remove it and save yourself $8.99 a pop.
